Heavenly Bamboo #3 - Monotype Collage

Heavenly Bamboo #3 is a monotype collage on watercolor paper with embroidery thread. This piece come with an acid-free mat, ready to pop into the 10 in x 10 in. frame of your choice. The artwork area is ~6 in. x 6 in. 

All the pieces in my "Botanical Mashups" series started as two prints made on my gel printing plate with acrylic paint and various plants around my neighborhood.

One of these prints uses the plant as a mask and the other pulls the texture left by the ghost print. After carefully cutting up both prints and swapping sections, I put them back together with a little bit of stitching to create a pair of "mashups". 

The partner piece to this work is Heavenly Bamboo #4, seen in the 3rd photo.
