Reaching the halfway point

Reaching the halfway point

This past Sunday was Day 50 of the 100 day project for 2025 and to celebrate the halfway point I made a quick video of all the work I've created so far.

For the first 30 days I created a single gel-printed rock (and a couple shells) every morning. There was something very satisfying about having a small piece completed each day.

When I switched to collage rock stacks on Day 31 it took a little bit of mental reset (you can read about that here). Initially I was creating one 8" x 10" per day, but after the first week of collage I wanted to get bigger. I worked on a few 12" x 18" and finally two 18" x 24" pieces.

As I worked larger I knew it wasn't realistic to finish a whole piece in my morning creative hour. Now the big mental shift was being OK not finishing a piece everyday. Initially it felt a little strange, like I wasn't following the project rules.

But there is no rule about the size, scope or quantity of "things" created, just that you're creating everyday. It could be a single drawing everyday or one large piece that takes the full 100 days. The rules are up to the artist.

At Day 51 I'm turning my attention back to gel printed rocks, but in larger groupings, larger pieces. I won't be finishing one per day and that's OK. I'm not even giving myself a timeline for this phase. I'm just focusing on my rocks and taking it one day at a time.

Thanks for following along on my #100dayprojectofrocks.
