Summer Salal #2 - Monotype on Panel

This piece is a 5 in. x 5 in. acrylic monotype on watercolor paper mounted to a 7/8 in. cradled wood panel. Sealed with a gloss varnish, signed on the back, and wired for hanging. Two sides of the panel are painted in complementary colors, to highlight some of the colorful layers in this piece.

"Summer Salal" #2 was created using acrylic paint and botanical material on a gel printmaking plate. While a variety of plants, including ferns and grasses, were used to create the vibrant base layers, the crisp shape on the top layer was created using leaves from a salal plant in my backyard.
